SJE is blessed to have such caring and dedicated parents in our school community. Parents and educators work in collaboration to nurture and develop every student to the best of their abilities academically, spiritually, socially and athletically. Our parents are involved in many activities both inside and outside the classroom. These activities allow our parents to get to know each other and form life-long friendships.

St. John the Evangelist and the Archdiocese of Baltimore have a commitment to maintaining the trust of the faithful by providing our children and youth with safe environments characterized by healthy relationships. All parishes and archdiocesan Catholic schools use a compliance management system that allows all parishes and schools to facilitate compliance with archdiocesan child protection requirements for all employees, clergy, and adult volunteers.
As of November 1, 2017, the Archdiocese of Baltimore joined more than ninety dioceses using VIRTUS Online as our new training and compliance management system. The Archdiocesan policies updated in 2014 remain unchanged. VIRTUS has worked with us to customize training tailored to our policies and to Maryland law. Please note that volunteers’ account data in Shield the Vulnerable has transferred to VIRTUS.
All adults, 18 years or older, who want to volunteer may NOT do so until they have completed the VIRTUS online application process and are compliant. Adult volunteer applicants who want to volunteer with youth need to register indicating their affiliation has substantial contact with youth. The following components of the VIRTUS online compliance requirements, include the…
- Volunteer Application,
- Criminal History Screening (redirected to Employment Screening Resources),
- Protecting God’s Children Online Maltreatment Awareness Training,
- Statement of Policy for the Protection of Children & Youth,
- Code of Conduct for Church Personnel of the Archdiocese of Baltimore
- List of three adult references with email addresses, including only one family member.
For all new volunteers click here to access the VIRTUS website and choose “First time signup”.
If you would like step by step instructions, for new or current compliant volunteer, please contact shield@stjohnsp.org.
